What is 1Watertown all about?
There is no organization behind 1Watertown.com - just me with an idea to highlight and celebrate the diversity of Watertown and give something back to the schools.
There is no mission statement, programs or goals to reach. This website is NOT affiliated with the school department.
I came up with the idea for the shirts after the school budget process a while ago. During that time, I learned just how many different languages were spoken in the schools and that many of the books being used needed to be replaced. Books are very important in my family and we wanted to give something back, so our donation choice was obvious.
Lastly, I wanted to emphasize that we are all part of this community and 1Watertown sounded good, so I put this website together.
20% of every purchase (you read that right - 20% of every purchase, not 20% of profits) will be donated to Watertown Public Schools for the express purpose of purchasing books for the school libraries or classrooms.
The 'hello Watertown' shirt shows 30 of the 47+ languages spoken in Watertown schools and greetings in those languages.
